Memorial Biography

Theresa Ann (Bock) Albers passed away suddenly on Wednesday, October 10th. She was a loving, generous and lively spirit with a lifelong commitment to family and friends. She was a passionate lover of the arts. Theresa was immensely proud of her son Jim and his accomplishments and extended that pride to his significant other Diana.

Theresa was born in Cleveland, OH the only child of John Bock and Margaret Bock Slezak. She was married for 25 years to James A. Albers. They moved from Cleveland to Lancaster, CA in 1974, where she volunteered with NASA for the first Space Shuttle landings and enjoyed the science fiction club. Theresa has lived in San Jose, CA since 1982. She proudly earned an Associates degree with honors from DeAnza College in 1991 and a Bachelors degree in public relations from San Jose State University in 1998. Her career centered in the performing arts, including Silicon Valley Symphony and San Jose Repertory Theater.  Theresa performed and volunteered in community theaters in Cleveland, Seattle, Lancaster, and San Jose. She was an avid Browns Backer and fan of anything "Cleveland", enjoyed happy hour trivia nights, delighted in finding a bargain, never forgot a birthday, anniversary or holiday, and loved trips to Los Angeles and to the ocean. As a ULC Minister, she planned perfect weddings tailored to each couple. She is remembered for volunteering with New Horizons and Santa Clara Senior Center, supporting Shelter dinners for Campbell United Church of Christ, and as a regular donor to KTEH/KQED public television and Grail Family Services in San Jose.

Theresa is survived by her loving son Jim and "daughter-in-law" Diana, her "sisters" Donna and Sue and her "brothers" Steve and Lee. She is also survived by her cousin Marie and extended family and friends in Cleveland, who remember her as Terry. She will be missed by all who knew her – family, dear friends, neighbors, fellow art lovers, and many more. Theresa - we love you and miss you.

A private celebration of her life will be held with her family and close friends, and her ashes will be scattered in the Pacific Ocean that she loved. The family invites others to honor her by doing something that she loved - like the symphony, the theater, a museum, a trip to their favorite place, cheering on the Browns, or just family gathering together for dinner. Donations in her honor can be made to arts organizations - San Francisco Legion of Honor Museum, de Young Museum, Silicon Valley Symphony, San Jose Repertory Theater, KQED public television or your favorite local arts group.
